Montanha portátil
(Portable mountain)Turn something non-transportable into something mobile and portable.
Montanha portátil consists of a roll of waxed kraft paper 1 metre by 12 metres in which a mountain was drawn, graphited and painted. Around the silhouette of this mountain were written several definitions of the word. Whenever the word “mountain” appeared in the definition, I scratched / scraped it.
With this site-specific work, I intended to challenge myself to work in a much larger format than I normally do and to question the size of works of art.
Montanha portátil was created to be exhibited in the atrium of the South pavilion of FBAUP but it can exist/be exhibited in other places.
This work is one of several in which I explored the island/mountain theme, such as Ilha portátil and Histórico da Ilha.
